Ninety years ago, when humans abandoned the city, the cats took over and renamed it, forming their own empire. Soon everyone knew of the place known as Kyatto City, and cats flocked there to join up with the three Clans that were forming.
Katana Clan was made up of fierce warriors filled with courage. They quickly claimed the upper and market districts for their territories.
Hokage Clan wanted to live among the trees where they felt most at home. They claimed the forest and a few of the surrounding areas. This became the strongest Clan.
Nami Clan was the smallest of the three Clans, but they were the swiftest and the most secretive Clan. They claimed what was once the poor district of the city, and all that lies beneath it.

Twenty years later the Clans lived in peace with one another. There were few disagreements between the Clans, though they could never truly get along. By now other groups had formed as well. There were the Rurouni, cats that frequently left the Clans to live their own live. There were the others, who chose not to be involved with the Clans. And then there were those called Aku, the Evil Ones who had committed crimes that had caused them to be banished from the Clans. They would eventually become the biggest threat to existence of the three Clans.

Fifty years after the formation of the city of cats there were hundreds living in the city and the neighboring forest. Many of them were Aku, or children of Aku. They had begun to form their own Clan, a Clan that would attempt to destroy the peace of the three other Clans. As cliché as it was, the Aku and their descendants wanted revenge.
The Clan formed, though it was a little disorganized, and began to terrorize Nami Clan. They broke down the smallest Clan's defenses, making sure that they were weak. Then, when they believed that the Clan was no longer strong enough to put up a fight, the Aku Clan swept in and anihlated the Clan, sending the survivors scattering to the two remaining Clans.
The next target was Hokage Clan. The Aku began to pick off the Hokage cats one by one in the forests, weaking the Clan over a short period of time. It wasn't long before Hokage Clan, like Nami Clan, was too weak to defend itself and was scattered. The survivors ran to Katana Clan.
Katana Clan was large and strong now. They prepared for war against the Aku. They would not be defeated as the two weaker Clans had been, or so they believed.
The Katana cats, along with the surviving Hokage and Nami cats, met the Aku in battle one fateful morning. The battle was fierce and bloody, and in the end there was no winner. Both forces were completely destroyed. All three of the original Clans were scattered and the Aku Clan was finally forced to completely disband. The era of the Clans had come to and end.

The survivors lived in the city with the Rurouni and the Others now. Years passed before another attempt to create the Clans was made. Ten years ago three powerful and respected cats met. During that meeting they agreed to set up the Clans once more. And they succeeded.
Two years ago a plot was created and those three leaders were murdered. The Clans were sent into chaos. For two years now they have been trying to stabalize their system of authority, but only one thing can help them do it; new leaders. No one has tried to claim the position fo Shôgun in any of the Clans. Once new leaders are found there will certainly be peace among the Clans again. But who are these leaders going to be?
And, as the Clans struggle through these hard times, the Aku are lying in wait...
